Slightly Left of Centre — Pop, Rock and Funk from Melbourne

Formed in 2010, Slightly Left of Centre has spent more than 15 years developing its own blend of melodic Pop/Rock, combining strong songwriting, layered guitars, keyboards, groove and detailed production with an approach that has continued to evolve alongside the band.

From the beginning, recording and production have been an important part of the Slightly Left of Centre story. Much of the band’s work has been developed independently through members’ own in-house studios, with songwriting, arranging, recording and production forming part of the band’s internal creative workflow.

The band’s debut album, The Right Direction, was produced by Slightly Left of Centre alongside Michael Zammit at Airwaves Recording Studios. While the collaboration with Airwaves played an important role in shaping the finished record, a significant amount of the creative and production workload was handled internally by the band through its own studio environments.

Today, that same independent approach continues through Pace Audio HQ, where Michael Pace oversees much of Slightly Left of Centre’s recording, production and wider creative development. It allows the band to remain hands-on throughout the entire process — taking a song from its earliest idea through arrangement, recording, production and ultimately its final release.

More than a decade on, Slightly Left of Centre remains focused on evolving its sound while staying connected to the foundations that started it: strong songs, collaboration, experimentation and the freedom to create music on its own terms.
